Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has assured the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) of his administration’s readiness to host the 2019 NAF Inter Command Combat Competition in the state.
Ganduje gave the assurance on Monday in Kano when NAF inspection team paid him a courtesy visit at the Government house, Kano.
The governor told the team that the state was ready to host the annual competition considering the peaceful nature of the state and up to date facilities in Kano.
He also assured the delegation that the state would carter for the accommodation of some of the senior officers if given the right to host.
In terms of security, the governor disclosed that Kano has been enjoying peace due to the government efforts and synergy between security agencies in the state.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation from NAF headquarters, Air Commodore, Abiola Amodu said that Kano was among the three states selected to host the competition.
Amodu said they were in the state to inspect some of the facilities and accommodation and report back to Abuja for final decision.
He said that the peaceful, hospitality and accommodating nature in Kano attracted them to select the state for the inspection visit.
“With your permission your excellency, we are going to inspect some of the stadiums and schools to see their current situation and facilities”, he said.
He further explained that the competition since inception, has contributed significantly towards effective and efficient service delivery in the NAF.
According to him, the competition was designed to test the combat readiness of personnel in a competitive manner while also promoting participation in sporting activities for enhanced combat capability.
Amodu said that, “personnel would compete in the various sporting events at the competition, include Combat swimming ,Tug of war ,Obstacle crossing , Combat relay race, Taekwando among others”.
