The Kano State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, called on the State Government to urgently repair the road linking five Local Government Areas in the state which is about to collapse.
The call, followed a motion of urgent public importance that was presented before the house by an APC member representing Rano constituency, Alhaji Nuruddeen Alhassan-Ahmed.
According to him, the bridge which is Located in Dan-Hassan town linked Kura, Bunkure, Kibiya, Rano, Sumaila and Tudun Wada Local Government Areas needs serious attention.
“As a matter of urgency, we want the state government to come to the aide of the people in the area, as the collapse of the bridge can affect the economy of the affected Local Government Areas
“The present condition of the bridge which was as a result of heavy rain falls in the area is worrisome, and the people of the affected areas use to have such experience every raining season.
“Therefore, I am calling on Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje to come to the aide of these communities before the collapse of the bridge, in order not to affect business, farming and other activities in the areas.”
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that after a series of deliberation by the legislators, the assembly unanimously adopted the motion and called on the State government to look into the issue.
Similarly, the assembly also called on the government to construct a bridge at Romo village in Bagwai Local Government Area and a road linking in the area.
The call was sequel to a motion presented by the member APC resenting Bagwai/Shanono, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim-Isa, calling on the assembly to intimate the government on the need for the two projects.
According to him if the bridge and the road which linked Dokadawa, Romo and Kiyawa Communities all in Shanono are constructed, it will assist in boosting the economy of the areas.
The assembly session presided over by the speaker, Alhaji Abdulazeez Garba-Gafasa also adopted the motion and called on the State government to intervene.
